Cottonwood, California — For Mega Millions ticket buyers in Shasta County, one small purchase led to a big win.
On Dec. 27, California Lottery representatives announced that a winning $1.22 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold at the Circle K store on Rhonda Road in Cottonwood and that all six numbers on the ticket were in the drawing. announced that they were in agreement. Owner Jaspal Singh, who has been running the store for over 20 years, and his son and operations director Ishar Gill told KRCR that it was surreal to know that their location was where the incident took place. he said.
“I had to read it two or three times,” Gill said. “I told my wife about it. Then I ran to my dad’s room and told him. And he said, ‘Really? … We really won. Is it?”
He added, “Everyone knows about it. Everyone’s excited.”
Gill told Northstate News it’s not yet known how much money the store will get for winning, but said the cap is $1 million.
He detailed that when the tickets were sold and the identity of the winners are a mystery as they have not yet come forward. But the locals, whoever they are, have a message.
