Plans to redevelop Leeds United’s stadium have been revealed, with financial expert Stefan Bolson saying it could become a major “events hub” for the city.
Los Blancos have been based at Elland Road since 1919, and earlier this month redevelopment plans were announced with one of the main objectives being to increase capacity to around 53,000.
Elland Road is known for its atmosphere, which is often lost and it is difficult to build new stadiums, so it was stated that another aim was to ensure the “unique” atmosphere was enhanced. are.
Elland Road also hosts events other than football
The redeveloped stadium offers numerous opportunities and also the opportunity to host other events outside of football to increase the club’s income.
Mr Bolson feels the redevelopment of the stadium could offer Leeds the opportunity to make Elland Road a major tourist attraction in the city.
“I don’t think it’s surprising that it happened on the back of new ownership and Red Bull’s investment,” he told Football Insider.
“First of all, they have to do something with the stadium. It is inevitable because the stadium is aging and needs investment.
“Secondly, it’s one club city so it’s obviously important to have that as a centerpiece and it’s a huge opportunity for them.
“That’s true even if they’re not in the Premier League.
“Even if you’re not in the Premier League, if you can get a really big crowd, it’s going to make a huge difference to the club’s funding.
“Leeds is a big city and can also be a major event center for the city.
“We don’t have the level of competition of venues like Manchester, so that could be a new source of revenue.”
Leeds are a huge football club and deserve a stadium worthy of their status, and the Elland Road update is long overdue and could have great implications for the club as well as City.
