When dozens of Klick Health employees said they wouldn’t be able to hug their loved ones during the Christmas season, the company created the magic to orchestrate a sentimental reunion to surprise team members .
In a new video called “Holiday Hugs,” the company first created some amazing AI-powered hugs for employees who have lost a loved one.
And those heartwarming deepfakes lead to surprise appearances and, ultimately, face-to-face hugs in real life.
“I wish I could hug her right now,” said Clickstar Kari Bocassi, a New York resident, after seeing an artificial intelligence-generated hug with her younger sister Marlene.
A few minutes later, she suddenly appeared on set and we were met for a long hug.
The siblings have been caring for their mother for 14 years since she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, but they haven’t vacationed together since Marlene moved to Virginia.
Similarly, Fred Duarte of Toronto gets the best bearhug of his life when his brother Rico, who lives in Brazil, visits Click’s production studio for a seven-year holiday reunion.
The initiative was conducted in partnership with the Social Connection Foundation in Washington, D.C., and a poll commissioned by Click found that 74 percent of Americans and Canadians say who they wish they could date while on vacation. The move comes after it was revealed that at least one person would not be able to hug someone.
Like the people in the video, study participants cited two main reasons for not getting together for the holidays: 1) geographic distance, and 2) the death of a loved one. Kink can overcome both.
