“Tonight, we celebrate the spirit of helping others and the willingness to seize opportunities.” Galabrese said this before more than 100 awards were presented to companies that provide everything from cars to delicious snacks to job training to a night’s rest away from home.
He told the many winners and nominees that many votes had been cast and counted to bring them together in an evening of food, music and friendship.
According to Galabrese, 429 people cast 1,771 votes in the first round of the contest, and 6,114 people cast 122,387 votes in the second round. Finally, 100,212 votes cast by 2,003 people in the third round determined the prestigious first, second and third place winners on Wednesday.
Voting often reflected different aspects of the same business, with multiple businesses receiving three awards each.
Among them was Gus’ Goody’s in Weirton, which was chosen as the best bakery and best provider of cakes, cookies and donuts. and Hidden Acres Weddings and Events in Mingo Junction, named the Best Wedding and Event Planner, Banquet Facility and Company to Work For.
Other companies with multiple awards include M&M True Value Hardware of Steubenville, which was recognized for best hardware, lawn and garden supplier and rental business; And Puskalic Accounting in Follansby was rated best in the areas of accounting, tax preparation and financial planning.
Wintersville restaurant Pastaio Cucina Rustica Italiana won top awards for Italian cuisine, service and outdoor dining. Meanwhile, Frederico Foods of Steubenville was the top winner in the convenience store, deli and subscription category.
And Seven Ranges Entertainment was named Best Supplier of Entertainment and Family Entertainment and Best New Business, an honor given to businesses opening between June 2023 and June of this year.
