Colby Covington on Monday criticized the fact that his UFC bout against Joaquin Buckley on Saturday in Tampa, Florida, was stopped after the third round due to excessive bleeding from a cut above his right eye.
“I was just warming up for that fight,” Covington said on his YouTube channel. “I think we were tied 1-1, and I was starting to get tired of him. I could see him breathing out of his mouth. I was starting to catch him with more shots, and they were starting to get tired of him. It’s a shame that it stopped.”
However, UFC legend Chel Sonnen, who was in Covington’s corner during the fight, revealed that he almost threw in the towel to end the fight before doctors intervened.
