IRON MOUNTAIN — After leading the Iron Mountain football team to a perfect 9-0 regular season record and another MHSAA Division 8 playoff berth, Mountaineers head coach Robin Martilla announced Monday the West PAC annual Selected as Best Coach.
Iron Mountain also dominated individual player awards, with senior quarterback Ian Martilla named West PAC Player of the Year. Senior running back Alex Jayne won Offensive Player of the Year honors and senior Alec Haferkorn earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Senior Bryce Davis rounded out the Mountaineers’ awards by winning West PAC Lineman of the Year.
Martila (QB), Jayne (RB), Jake Powell (C), Davis (G), Haverkorn (T) and Oscar Kangas (WR) were unanimously selected to the West PAC Offensive First Team. .
West Iron senior Elijah Oberlin was also named to the first team as a tight end.
Defensively, Davis (DL), Haverkorn (DE), Kangas (OLB), Jayne (ILB), Martila (DB), and Davis (K) were named to the West PAC First Team. Iron Mountain sophomore Brayden Cashin (DL), West Iron junior Saul Kobussen (DL) and senior Bradley Jochem (OLB) were also named to the first team.
Iron Mountain senior Aiden Ellis joins West Iron’s Kobussen, IM Daniel Manier and IM Evan Copley on honorable mention for the offensive team. West Iron’s Dominique Brunswick Abel Lundin, Keenan Dobson-Donati and Jesiah Smith were named to the Honorable Mention Defensive Team.
