It’s not even September yet, but Christmas shopping is already underway in stores. In the past, Halloween had to wait until mid-September to hit the shelves, and Christmas began the day after Thanksgiving. But as time goes on, more and more businesses are starting their Christmas shopping earlier. Some stores even keep their Christmas decorations up all year round. It may still be a few months away, but Christmas shopping has already begun in the Magic Valley. If you can’t wait, start here.
Christmas Shopping in Twin Falls
It’s hard to think about Christmas in this weather, but some stores are already trying to get customers’ attention for the holiday season. As we wrote recently, Hobby Lobby has already taken down some of its decorations, but the store typically keeps a few Christmas items up throughout the year. However, another store has joined the trend: Costco has already started putting out Christmas decorations. Costco has already put out advent calendars, Christmas trees, wrapping paper, and lights. With Halloween still two months away and Christmas two months after that, is it too early?

Some might say it’s too early to be thinking about the holidays. Others might say now is the time. It’s still technically summer, and Labor Day isn’t until this weekend. With temperatures in the 80s and 90s, it’s too hot to be thinking about Christmas wrapping paper, lights, and trees. While there’s nothing wrong with having something out, no one is actively looking for Christmas trees (real or artificial) this time of year. Unless they’re heavily discounted, Christmas decorations will fill up store space and are unlikely to sell quickly. If now is too early, when should these items hit the shelves?
Sure, some people think Christmas should last forever, but that can be overdone and take away from the specialness of the holiday season. Part of what makes the holiday season magical is the anticipation. If the season lasts for four months, it may take away from the holiday spirit and cause Christmas fatigue for those who live in the Magic Valley. Are you planning on doing your Christmas shopping this early or do you think it’s still too early? If you can’t wait, Costco is the perfect place for some early holiday shopping.
