There were no winners in Friday’s drawing, so one lucky winner on Christmas Eve could win the Mega Millions jackpot of nearly $1 billion.
This is the seventh-largest prize in Mega Millions history and the largest prize ever won in December.
Friday’s winning numbers were 2, 20, 51, 56, and 67, plus Mega Ball 19.
With no winner, the grand prize ballooned to $944 million.
The last jackpot was won on September 10th.
The lottery says the jackpot winners of Tuesday’s drawing, which will be held on Christmas Eve, will receive their prize in the form of an annual annuity payment or an estimated $429.4 million lump sum.
So far this year’s biggest winner has been a Florida-based Mega Millions ticket holder who has won $1.6 billion in prize money.
Locally, a New Jersey player won a $1.13 billion jackpot on March 26th.
