Lakers coach JJ Redick is one of the many Los Angeles residents left homeless in the devastating wildfires across the city. And Reddick’s two sports-loving sons, Knox and Kai, lost a collection of memorabilia and jerseys in the fire that were undoubtedly dear to the boys’ hearts.
But in a heartwarming moment bigger than the sport itself, San Antonio Spurs stars Chris Paul and Victor Wembaneyama took off their jerseys after their team’s 126-102 win on Monday night, honoring the Redick Boys’ loss. He decided to cooperate in restoring the lost collection. and sign them.
Afterwards, the two Spurs stars posed for photos with Redick’s sons.

After the game, an emotional Reddick explained that Paul had assured him that win or lose, he and his Spurs teammates would do something special for the two boys.
“I’ve been doing a podcast from my home for two years,” Reddick said. “All the players came in and had their jerseys or cards autographed. And they had collections of jerseys and cards…and they lost it all. I’m glad you gave it to me.”
“Austin[Reeves]was kind enough to leave some in their lockers after practice the other day, so they each have two now. Thank you for all the love. Also, Chris… It’s no surprise that he did that.”

Paul, whom Redick called his “brother,” played alongside the current Lakers coach for four seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers from 2013 to 2017.
“You guys have been playing in this league for years and some guys are just teammates,” Paul said. “But JJ is part of my family. So him, his wife, and their kids Knox and Kai. I know there are a lot of people who have lost their families and homes… It’s just different when you’re around. Me and JJ are the ultimate rivals.
“We’re close, so I don’t like to lose or win. But I actually told him today that I wanted to do that for my sons because they’re such big basketball fans. Because I know what it is.”
Wenbanyama added, “If I can make children’s day, I will.”
The Spurs duo went above and beyond with a special gesture.
