London’s firefighters said more than 100 firefighters and 20 fire trucks spent hours fighting the flames that ran through the Chiltern Fire Station in Marylebone.
The Red Brick Building, a former fire station that appeared in the late 19th century, is known as a celebrity favourite, with many stars among hotel and restaurant customers, including Madonna, Kylie Minogue and Tom Cruise.
The hotel was scheduled to host a Netflix party after the BAFTA awards ceremony on Sunday.
No injuries were reported and the fire was included late Friday.
Firefighters said the flames spread to the roof of the four-storey hotel after ducts began on the first floor of the building in the afternoon. The cause of the fire was unknown.
“The crew worked hard for hours in challenging situations in complex historic buildings and successfully locked up the fire,” he said.
Hotel owner Andre Baraz said the venue will remain closed until notification.
