See Chapel Lawn and Elton John Duet at Oscar’s After Party
Chapel Lawn performed at Elton John’s annual Oscar after-party, where they challenged each other’s songs.
Chapel Lawn is the “gifter,” but she doesn’t give her fans her political opinions.
When she appeared on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast with host Alex Cooper on Wednesday, Roan denounced fans who hoped to share her personal political opinions.
Why is Lone “looking for a political answer from me? …I’m a pop star. I wish there was an answer, and I wish the president was a pop star, but “Cooper wasn’t saying, ‘You listen to my song, listen to my song.’
Last year, Lone dealt with pressure from fans and discussed politics in two interviews. The first was a rolling stone. So she said, “I don’t have sides because I hate both sides.” She then doubled this sentiment in an interview with the Guardian.
“I can’t put pressure on anyone to support,” Lone said. “There are issues on both sides. I encourage people to use your critical thinking skills and use your vote.
Taylor Swift also faced political pressures beyond the 2024 votes
Lone is not the only pop star plagued by political pressure. Last September, Taylor Swift supported former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election after the only presidential debate between her and now President Donald Trump. The support followed months of pressure from fans to help Swift express her opinion on the race.
In an Instagram post shared after the discussion, Swift wrote in the caption of her photo with her cat that she “will throw my vote on Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz.”
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because I think she needs warriors to defend them, so I believe she needs warriors to defend them. For decades,” she wrote.
