On Thursday, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish will take on the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Orange Bowl for a spot in the College Football Playoff’s national championship game.
The Irish have dealt with a variety of injuries this season, resulting in a much different depth chart than it was in August, but it doesn’t look like much has changed and there are no particular questions. It is not even seen. The idea of ”next talent” is something that this program fully embraces.

The depth of the offensive line remains the same, but Jeremiah Love is clearly the center of attention. There’s a lot of “gait monitoring” going on about his every move, but it’s unclear if we’ll have many clues about the knee before game day. It’s good that Jadarian Price has the ability to carry a heavier load alongside Aneyas Williams. Tight end Cooper Flanagan is out for the year, and the Irish transferred Jack Larsen to the national team, but he is not on the roster along with Eli Raridon and Mitchell Evans.

The depth chart of the defense hasn’t changed since the Sugar Bowl. The rotation and personnel package should allow many of the deep two players to play, but the workload on the defensive line is still a concern. I think Aamer Muqam will need more snaps in this game to keep the Irish fresh up front.
