The Boston Celtics have a long history of success over decades. They have the second best championship in the NBA and are chasing the Lakers.
Boston has long been supported by stable ownership, knowing exactly what to do with the team. That follows Wyc Grousbeck, who currently owns the team.
Grousbeck has found a new Celtics buyer and decided to sell the team to a group led by Bill Chisholm. However, Chisholm will not take over basketball operations for a while.
Grouseb will make decisions to the team for the next few years and will remain in control until 2027. Of course, I thought Mark Cuban was going to do the same thing when he sold his team.

Grousbeck has some big decisions he has to make when it comes to the offseason roster. The team faces a massive luxury tax bill due to the contracts his team has given.
When asked what he was going to do with the massive bill he had to pay, he gave no indication of what his future plans were.
“Let’s put a pin on that balloon too,” Grousbeck said when asked about the challenges of staying in luxury taxes. “It’s not a luxury tax bill, it’s a basketball penalty. The new CBA was designed to keep teams from getting hooked.”
It’s obvious that Grousbeck is thinking about what the team needs to do, but he doesn’t want to show the other teams what it is.

The Celtics could remove Jrue Holiday or Kristaps Porzingis if they are trying to cut their pay. If you really want to minimize your luxury tax payments, you can potentially trade both.
It’s still not possible to see how many Grousvecks are willing to pay in the past few years he owned the team. He has to figure out how much he is willing to invest in a team he no longer controls.
