A California man was attacked and killed by his dog at a playground in San Diego on Friday. Despite the frantic efforts of bystanders, the three beasts refused to let go of their owners.
According to KTLA, San Diego police began receiving calls around noon Friday reporting dog attacks at Mesa Viking Neighborhood Park, and when police arrived, three “XL bullies” attacked an unsuspecting man. He said he found it biting in.
The attack was so vicious that one witness thought police were trying to arrest a violent criminal.
“I saw something trapped in the weeds here, and at first I thought it was a person because they were talking about setting up a perimeter,” said Steve Marto, a neighbor at the park. Ta.
“They were big, like XL bullies, just huge muscles,” he said.
As the dogs continued to attack, bystanders tried to help them by hitting their canines with shovels and golf clubs.
Eventually, police were forced to shoot the animals with Tasers. Two of the dogs were subdued and captured, but the third escaped into the surrounding area.
As a result, nearby Erickson Elementary School was placed on lockdown until the animal returned home and was found and captured.
“Officers were able to disintegrate the dog. The two men fled and the injured man was taken to hospital with unknown injuries,” police said in a statement.
The man later died from his injuries at a hospital.
The child was on the playground with the victim, but was not harmed in the attack.
It is still unclear what the fate of the dogs will be.
Marto expressed sympathy for the victim, but said owning a dog this strong could lead to trouble.
“I don’t understand why someone would want to have three dogs of that size. In my opinion, you’re just looking for trouble,” Marto said.
