(Center Square) – When state Sen. R-Jackson, a Latina woman, switched from Democrat last year, she was boot From the state’s Latin Caucus for being a Republican.
Now, Hispanic Republicans have launched their own Hispanic Caucus by state Sen. Rosiliciie Ochoa-Bogh, who cited identity politics and rejection of discrimination. We aim to provide race blind governance.
“Latin values are common sense values. We want a safer community, a better school, and a strong economy that serves everyone.” I said Rep. Kate Sanchez, R-Trabuco Canyon at X, said “I’m proud to be co-founded with the California Hispanic Caucus and (state. Sen. Suzette Martinez Vallaz, R. Santa Clarita). That means Latinos and millions of Californians want to solve the problem.”
But Ochoa-Bogh, who was elected California’s first Latina Republican Senate in 2020, reflects that ethnic caucuses are discriminatory and that all lawmakers represent people from many backgrounds. It suggested that he had not done so.
“As elected officials, including myself as a senator, we are tasked with representing all our members, not just those who share my ethnicity; I said Kcra from ochoa-bogh. “We have serious concerns about the formation of ethnic-based caucuses because they may be discriminatory against individuals who do not match the background of the group.
“America has revealed that. People are tired of the politics of identity,” Ochoa-Bogh continued. “While these caucuses may aim to support shared experiences, they run the risk of creating division and exclusion, leading to unintended consequences that arise from working in silos and echo chambers.”
The creation of legislative conferences tends to allocate taxpayer funds to support the caucus, as the Democratic-led California Latinx legislative caucus is present in songs worth more than $500,000 a year.
