Caitlin Clark won yet another WNBA award on Wednesday, but once again fell one vote short of the unanimous honor.
The Fever superstar was named to the All-WNBA first team on Wednesday, but the honor didn’t come without a bit of a head-scratcher in terms of how she ended up on the list.
The 22-year-old received 52 of a possible 67 first-team votes, with 14 people using their votes to make him a second-team All-WNBA candidate.
This means that one voter completely ignored Clark, and this is the second time she has not won all the league honors because one voter removed her from the ballot. It became.
Earlier this month, Clark was named WNBA Rookie of the Year with 66 of 67 first-place votes, with Sky star Angel Reese receiving the other vote.
It was a mystery who voted for Reese, but the fact that she was once again ignored by voters renews that mystery.
WNBA Rookie of the Year voting is closed to the public, so no one knows who the sole voter is.
It’s unlikely fans will know who removed Clark from all WNBA voting.
“I’m very honored to be named Rookie of the Year, but more than that, I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this season, including my family, friends, teammates, Fever organization, and everyone who has supported me throughout the season. Thank you to everyone who helped.” I’m so proud of what we accomplished and so excited for what’s next,” Clark said in a statement upon winning Rookie of the Year.
Clark started every game against the Fever this year, averaging 19.2 points, a league-leading 8.4 assists, and 122 3-pointers per game, breaking numerous league and franchise records in the process.
