CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) – West 6th tailgates at Browns games have become an iconic Cleveland football tradition, but some business owners and employees are tired of the crime these parties bring. There is.
“Unfortunately, things are getting worse and worse, so I think it’s a good idea to stop them,” said Acqua di Dea manager Kerchen Jakuan.
Some business owners told 19 News there will be no more reckless driving on West 6th Street this year. Tickets for future home games are no longer on sale, according to the W.6th Tailgate website.
“Things have gotten pretty bad. I’ve lived here for 15 years and it used to be really fun. It’s a shame we can’t do that anymore,” said Chase Rose, manager of Oliva Steakhouse. .
Rose and Jarcuan said they were still traumatized by the previous incident when a woman intentionally drove her car into a frenzied crowd pushing people against the door of the Grand Arcade Apartments.
“I think the biggest problem on Sunday is drunkenness. Too many people are drunk,” Jarcuan explained. “There’s a lot of drug abuse here. Unfortunately, I don’t think the police can do anything because they can’t arrest 20,000 people.”
19 News reached out to Ethos Hospitality Group, which is organizing the tailgate, but did not receive a response.
We also contacted the city of Cleveland. A statement is expected to be released soon.
