Camp Verde Town Manager Miranda Fisher is excited about “a period of growth.”
When it comes to running the town of Camp Verde, Miranda Fisher doesn’t joke.
The dynamic 36-year-old took over as Camp Verde Town Manager just six months ago and has devised a tactical plan of action to tackle it from the inside out. “In order to create stability within the team, I am focusing internally and on a steady path to ensuring that our staff performs the best they can. Every department has its strengths, weaknesses, We have a comprehensive efficiency plan that thoroughly acts on areas for improvement.”
Mr. Fisher works with all departments, including Public Works, Public Works, and Libraries, and also serves as Interim Community Development Director.
“Camp Verde’s city manager position had gone through five permanent and interim managers in 18 months, so the organization needed stability more than anything. We are steadily forging a path forward,” said Fisher, who is currently the youngest Town Manager to serve at Camp Verde.
“I came here on my own – just me, single, no kids – and so far I’m loving this job. ”
“Our new Town Manager is a true breath of fresh air. Acts efficiently, delivers results effectively, and is personable in all interactions. Her commitment to our community goes beyond leadership. She has become an integral part of the heart and soul of our town,” said Town of Camp Verde Deputy Mayor Marie Moore. “Her vision aligns seamlessly with that of our city, ensuring that every goal is a step toward a common future. Her vision is to listen, adapt, and act with precision. Her abilities are already making a lasting impact, and we are confident that her leadership will continue to move our city forward. We look forward to seeing our goals come to fruition. With Miranda at the helm, progress feels not only possible, but inevitable.”
Fisher was born in Boulder, Colorado, and lived there until third grade. “My family then moved to a nearby mountain community in the Netherlands, where I grew up and attended school. After high school, I attended Northern Arizona University (NAU) for a year to study. Personal Circumstances Eventually, I was forced to return to Colorado and attended Colorado State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in journalism and technical communications.
She then worked in the health and human services field in Las Vegas for 10 years. “I loved it, but I realized I was more interested in local policy and how it drives health service policies and procedures. So I attended Penn State University and I earned a master’s degree in public administration.”
When Holland advertised for a town clerk position, Fischer applied. “What better place to get your foot in the door? So, I moved back home. Six months later, I was promoted to deputy town manager, and a year later I was promoted to mayor.”
“I love my hometown, but I knew I wouldn’t be there forever, so last year I started looking for new opportunities. I knew a recruiter in Camp Verde and applied for the Town Manager position. I love this area and living in Flagstaff has felt like coming home. ”
““Since joining the City of Camp Verde, Ms. Miranda has prioritized building strong connections with both her staff and the community,” said Krissi Clark, Economic Development Specialist for the City of Camp Verde. “Her genuine commitment to understanding and embracing Camp Verde’s unique culture reflects her dedication as Town Manager. Her professionalism and transparency make her an invaluable asset to the Town. He quickly proved himself to be a very talented person.”
Leadership started early in Fisher’s life. She served as student council president every year in high school. “I always knew I would be in some kind of leadership position, and being a good leader is very important to me.”
Strengthening public communications is one of her action plans, so Fisher obtained and published the Town Manager’s weekly updates. Camp Verde residents can register for “E-Notify” on the City of Camp Verde website.
As stated in her six-month action plan, “I am honored to serve as City Manager of Camp Verde. This is a time of growth, transition, and meaningful progress as we continue to… I couldn’t be more proud of what we accomplished together, from driving major initiatives to responding to change. We have laid a strong foundation for Verde’s future. None of this would have been possible without the resilience, dedication and teamwork of our amazing staff.”
Fisher doesn’t have much free time, but she likes reading and traveling. “My goal is to travel to all 50 states,” she said.
first job
My first job was as a rental technician at Eldora Mountain Ski Resort in Colorado. I helped guests put on their snowboards and skis and made sure they were ready to hit the slopes.
Recent obsession
I’m obsessed with football right now, especially the Baltimore Ravens. I’m an avid fan who watches every Ravens game and as many other football games as I can. I also belong to three fantasy football leagues and two Survivor leagues. My passion for the Ravens also inspired a recent East Coast road trip, culminating in watching the Ravens play the Philadelphia Eagles. Although the Ravens didn’t win, the energy in the stadium was nothing short of impressive.
my role model
My parents are my biggest role models. My father worked in injection molding and from a young age lived in his shop and kept projects running 24/7. I’ll never forget the weekly pizza nights I had at his shop. Because that was practically the only time we would get to see him. His unparalleled work ethic and dedication taught me the value of hard work, which I strive to emulate. My mother, on the other hand, handled the administrative side of the business, which is where I learned my organizational skills. She is also one of the most personable people I know. All strangers are just friends to her that she hasn’t met yet. Her warmth, energy and charisma are qualities I hope to embody.
how to relax
I feel relaxed while traveling. Exploring new places is energizing. I’m a natural worker bee, but a big break or vacation gives me the reset I need to feel refreshed.
The last time I felt nostalgic was
Recently, during a 12-day road trip along the East Coast, I experienced a wave of nostalgia. Watching the sun rise over the ocean and hiking along quiet, tree-lined trails reminded me of the joys found in nature and the beauty of the outdoors.
best high school lessons
The most valuable lesson I learned in high school was the importance of leadership. Serving as student body president for all four years has taught me what it means to lead with integrity and inspire a group of people to work toward a common vision for a better future. FBN
