This week, U.S. News & World Report recognized Kenosha County’s Brookside Care Center as the Best Nursing Home for Short-Term Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care in 2025.
Now in its 14th year, the annual Best Nursing Home rankings help prospective residents and their families make informed decisions about where to receive short-term or long-term nursing home care.
Looking ahead to 2025, U.S. News evaluated more than 15,000 nursing homes on care, safety, infection rates, staffing and health inspections. Only 16% of skilled nursing facilities in the United States earned the “Best Nursing Home” designation this year.
Brookside received the highest rating of “Excellent Performing” in both the short-term rehabilitation and long-term care categories. Brookside was the only facility in Kenosha County to receive this rating in either category.
“We are honored that Brookside received the highest honor in this exhaustive national review of nursing home quality,” said Kenosha County Executive Samantha Kirkman. “Brookside is a true jewel in our community, with a dedicated staff and long history of quality care.”
Brookside has previously been featured in U.S. News ratings and other national publications’ lists of America’s best nursing homes.
In August 2023, Brookside received a defect-free review from the state agency that regulates nursing homes. This review of health and life safety compliance covered a 15-month period starting from April 2022.
“I am extremely proud of Brookside and the caring staff that makes it what it is,” said Robert W. Pitts, chairman of the Brookside Board of Directors. “Brookside is Kenosha County’s nursing home of choice, and this latest honor is further proof of that. County Executive Kerkman and Monica Juhasz for their continued support of our wonderful facility. Thank you, Chairman.”
Brookside Administrator Linda Bogdala pointed to several factors that make the 154-bed facility different from other nursing homes. These include:
All residents have private rooms, some with private bathrooms. The ratio of staff to residents is high, and all rooms have been recently renovated to create a homely environment. Great cafe-style dining with multiple entrees for every meal.
“As U.S. News & World Report recognizes, Brookside has performed exceptionally well in many ways and is a true asset to the Kenosha County community,” Bogdala said. “We encourage families to come and see all that we have to offer at this outstanding facility.”
