If you’re a resident looking to settle in Massachusetts, you may not need to look too far.
Boston was recently ranked #29 on U.S. News & World Report’s 2025 Best Retirement Destinations list of 150 U.S. cities.
The site created its list by considering factors such as the happiness of local residents, housing affordability, tax rates and quality of health care. The full methodology can be found here.
Boston’s overall retirement score was 6.6. The city’s medical rating was 5.6 and its housing affordability rating was 4.8.
“From Old North Church to the Institute of Contemporary Art and everything in between, Boston is full of culture and pride,” U.S. News & Report wrote about the city. “For new families, recent college graduates, retirees or seasoned professionals, Boston is the place where you can nurture the next stage of your life.”
The state’s second largest city also made the list. Worcester placed 133rd with an overall retirement score of 5.9.
There were no other cities in Massachusetts on the list.
