The Biden administration notified Congress on Monday of its decision to authorize the sale of MH-60R multi-mission helicopter equipment and related equipment at an estimated cost of $1.17 billion.
The proposed sale will improve India’s anti-submarine warfare capabilities and improve its ability to deter current and future threats, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said in a notice to Congress.
The Biden administration’s approval of major defense equipment sales to India comes weeks before the end of its four-year term.

According to the notification, India has requested the purchase of 30 units of Multifunctional Information Distribution System-Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS-JTRS).

The prime contractor will be Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems.
Implementation of the sale will require the temporary travel of up to 20 U.S. government or up to 25 contractor representatives to India for technical support and administrative oversight of the program, it said.
