U.S. News & World Report released its 2025 rankings of elementary and middle schools in each state, and in Massachusetts, many Boston suburbs lead the list.
The digital media company used data from the U.S. Department of Education to create rankings of more than 70,000 public schools based on four metrics: math proficiency, reading comprehension, math achievement, and reading comprehension. The schools analyzed were then given a score based on a formula that took into account four criteria and socio-economic background.
Competition is certainly tough in Massachusetts, which focuses on education, but suburbs like Brookline, Lexington, and Wellesley topped the 2025 rankings. Here are the complete rankings:
