Barney, the dinosaur of our imagination, will finally return to our screens this fall with the release of the new animated Max series, “Barney’s World.”
Marking Mattel’s iconic character’s first TV appearance in 14 years, “Barney’s World” is set in a playground and stars Barney along with dinosaurs Billy and Baby Bop and their three best friends, kids David, Mel and Vivie. Through his action-packed, music-filled adventures, Barney helps kids and audiences explore preschoolers’ big emotions and teaches them how to love themselves, others and their communities.
The new series will consist of 52 episodes, each 11 minutes long, and will premiere on Max on October 14 before its linear premiere on Cartoon Network on October 18. The show will also launch on Cartoonito in EMEA and APAC regions and Discovery Kids in LATAM. According to Warner Bros., Discovery and Mattel, “select” episodes of Barney’s World will also be available on YouTube, with the series premiere streaming in select countries in the early hours of October 11.
Cast of “Barney’s World”:
Jonathan Langdon (Zombies) stars as Barney, a singing, dancing purple dinosaur who is the embodiment of love, a great listener and someone who helps his friends get through tough times with compassion for themselves and others.
· Brynn McCauley (Hotel Transylvania: The Series) stars as Baby Bop, a charming, opinionated dinosaur who represents every emotion, big and small.
Jonathan Tan (Rubble & Crew) stars as Billy, a lively dinosaur who loves action and loud noises. With a strong sense of self-awareness, Billy inspires kids to express their feelings and take care of themselves.
Jade Desrochers (Super Why Comic Book Adventures) plays David, an empathetic, self-aware and compassionate kid who loves to give big hugs and whose laughter is contagious when he shares it with his friends, brother and sister.
Diana Tsoi (Cocomelon Lane) as Mel – Mel is an active, competitive girl who is always up for a challenge. She is of mixed Korean and Mexican descent, speaks three languages, and loves sharing her culture with her friends.
Ella Paciocco (Vocal Star) as Vivie – Vivie is a creative girl who loves to draw and perform. She lives with her grandmother and they enjoy cooking together, sharing their Italian traditions and caring for friends and family.
Barney’s World is a co-production between Mattel Television Studios and Corus Entertainment’s Nelvana. Josh Silverman and Michelle Mendelowitz, who recently retired from Mattel TV Studios, serve as executive producers for Mattel, and Athena Georgaklis, Doug Murphy, Melanie Welsh, Troy Reeve and Pam Westman serve as executive producers for Nelvana.
Barney debuted in 1988 with the series “Barney & Friends,” which aired for 14 seasons on multiple networks around the world, including PBS in the U.S. The series ended on November 2, 2010.
