St. Peter residents now have a new place for pampering and self-care thanks to the recently opened “BC and Spa Nail” (or “BC Nails,” as the sign outside the building says) is completed.
The store, located next to Anytime Fitness at 1903 N. 3rd St. in B.C., opened earlier this month and has already started building a reputation as one of the few places to get nails done in town.
Behind this venture is the husband-and-wife team David Tran and Chau Nguyen, who have many years of professional experience in the nail care industry. Originally from Vietnam, Tran moved to Minnesota several years ago and has spent the past seven years honing her skills as a manicurist in Mankato.
Nguyen previously owned a nail salon in Vietnam for five years and worked in the Mankato nail industry for an additional year after immigrating to the United States with her husband. After Tran first immigrated to America, it took six years for him and Nguyen to be together again.
While there are many nail salon options in the Mankato area, the couple saw an opportunity to fill a void in St. Peter with very few nail salon options. They spent four months renovating the suite near Anytime Fitness before opening to the public on Dec. 1.
Since opening, BC Nail Salon has provided a variety of services to meet the wide range of needs of our customers. These include traditional manicure, nail polish application and removal, and nail and hand filling.
We also offer a variety of pedicures. In the basic option, customers sit in a massage chair and soak their feet in a scented whirlpool bath while having cuticles removed, nails trimmed and shaped, and a lotion massage scrubbed and exfoliated.
Enhancement options include a spa pedicure with exfoliation, an exfoliating scrub and detox mask, a generous use of OPI Sugar Scrub, and a lotion massage wrapped in a hot towel.
The deluxe package offers a hot stone spa pedicure, organic mineral Epsom salt foot soak, massage cream, and organic sugar scrub, mask, aloe vera massage, and heated aromatherapy herbal neck wrap.
The salon has only been open for a month, but the couple is already seeing a flow of customers. Some days are slower than others, but Tran and Nguyen are the only two people currently running the salon, and they remain busy. But as customer demand grows, Tran and Nguyen plan to add four nail technicians to their team in the near future.
The salon is open daily from 9am to 8pm and closed on public holidays. Customers can make a free reservation by calling 507-995-7974.
BC Spa and Nail is easily identified by the purple sign with the snowflake logo on the front of the building. The logo was contributed by Nguyen and was inspired by the cold winters of Minnesota.
Once inside, revenue customers can expect a welcoming atmosphere and quality service for the community.
“Come here and enjoy the salon services,” Tran said.
