Lawmakers on Monday introduced a bill that could penalize health care workers if they make false health claims. The bill, which passed the Assembly’s Health Committee on a party-line 5-3 vote, with Rep. Under a new law signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom on Sunday banning plastic shopping bags altogether, grocery store cashiers in California will no longer have a “paper or plastic” choice. California already bans thin plastic shopping bags at supermarkets and other stores, but shoppers could buy bags made of thicker plastic that is supposed to be reusable and recyclable.
