National polls for the US presidential election have changed significantly since Kamala Harris took over from Joe Biden to face off against Donald Trump. While Biden has lagged the former Republican president nationally and in many key battleground states, Harris has risen about three points in national polls since becoming the nominee. The Guardian’s poll tracker, which assesses 10 days of rolling polls, currently shows Ms Harris leading nationally by about two points. But comparing the results to past elections, data from RealClearPolitics shows that Harris’ lead over Trump is weaker than her past opponents: Hillary Clinton led Trump by 5 points in…
CNN  — The 2024 presidential campaign’s home stretch kicks off with a mixed outlook across six key battlegrounds, according to new CNN polls conducted by SSRS in each state. Vice President Kamala Harris holds an advantage over former President Donald Trump among likely voters in Wisconsin and Michigan, while Trump has the edge in Arizona. The two split likely voters almost evenly in Georgia, Nevada and Pennsylvania, the state with the largest electoral vote prize that’s widely seen as up for grabs. Across each of them, an average of 15% of likely voters say they have not yet firmly decided their choice, suggesting a…

All opinions have been edited and fact-checked for grammar, style and argumentative structure, but opinions are the author’s own. Depending on who you ask, America’s worst nightmare or dream scenario unfolded on July 13, 2024. For a moment, national and local rallygoers thought the impossible had happened: a presidential assassination, an event not seen in the United States since the attempted assassination of former President Ronald Reagan in 1981. In a moment of political despair, such an event was meant to unite…
WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration has seized a Kremlin-run website and charged two Russian state media officials in its most far-reaching effort to counter what it claims are “Russian illicit activities.” Russia is trying to spread disinformation ahead of the presidential election in November. The measures, which include sanctions and visa restrictions in addition to the indictments, represent an effort by the U.S. government just weeks before the November election to thwart a persistent threat from Russia that U.S. officials have long warned could sow discord and unrest among voters. Washington has said Moscow, which intelligence officials say supports Republican…
Walking around ESPN’s sprawling campus in Bristol, Connecticut, you’ll notice the sports giant’s mission statement is written everywhere — on the walls, in the windows, in the cafeteria: “Serving sports fans. Anytime, anywhere.” It’s a modest slogan for one of the biggest brands in sports media, and maybe even in all of sports, but ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro insists the slogan is “more relevant today than ever.” Sports, like the entire entertainment industry, is undergoing a dramatic generational shift with audience fragmentation, the decline of cable television and the rise of streaming. “If you dig a little deeper, what we’re…
