Tuesday night’s debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris could have been a chaotic mess, full of convoluted arguments, irrefutable claims and wildly off-topic talk, but ABC hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis kept the candidates on point.Muir and Davis were taking on the first presidential challenger between two candidates virtually tied in the polls and were trying to “honor the time agreement and ensure a civil debate” under the ABC debate rules negotiated over weeks. That was no easy task.Though they had some less-than-perfect moments, the pair were largely praised for a strong performance: They effectively steered the debate…

Watching Fox News after Tuesday’s presidential debate, it’s hard to describe the atmosphere. It was heavy, like a funeral for a beloved cat who’d been eaten by a political demon. Donald Trump had just spent most of his 90-minute debate with Kamala Harris yelling into the microphone, a complete 180-degree contrast to his last debate with Joe Biden. If he started off calmly, Trump quickly fell into the traps Harris set for him: the size of the audience, his reputation among military leaders, his status among world leaders. The results were disastrous. For viewers who had forgotten what the Trump…

Debate viewers said Harris performed better onstage in Philadelphia by 63% to 37%. Simply put, ABC News’ David Muir and Lindsey Davis did a great job moderating Tuesday night’s debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Their questions were sharp, their research was on-point, their approach was calm, and they handled the real-time fact-checking without becoming overly partisan. In my opinion, Tuesday night’s debate was the best-moderated presidential debate of the Trump era. To be fair, the bar is low: with the exception of this June’s Trump-Biden debate, in which a sleepy Joe Biden was reduced to dazed tweets and relegated to lame-duck status, most general election debates that…
