The Associated Press, in place of Donald Trump’s preference, will “punish” the agency for its style guidance, and instead of Donald Trump’s preference, to “punish” the agency for that style guidance. He said he was banned from sending reporters to the company. The name of a geographical landmark as the American Gulf.
“We’ve seen you get a lot of money,” Julie Pace, executive editor of the AP, said in a statement: “As a global news organization, The Associated Press informs billions of people around the world about fact-based, nonpartisan journalism every day.”
“Today, we are not renaming the editorial standards from the White House and President Donald Trump’s executive order and the Gulf of Mexico as US Gulf, the AP will not access events in oval offices. I was informed that this afternoon, an Associated Press reporter was blocked from participating in signing the executive order.”
Pace continued: “I am amazed that the Trump administration will punish the Associated Press for independent journalism. Restricting access to an oval office based on the content of the Associated Press’ speech has led to independent news. Not only does it strictly interfere with public access, but it clearly violates the initial revision.”
Aaron Tell, the Fundamentals of Personal Rights and Expression (Fires), called the move “a surprising attack on freedom of the press.”
“Our role in the free press is to hold those in power accountable, rather than acting as a mouthpiece. The government’s efforts to erode this fundamental freedom are worthy of condemnation,” Tele said. Ta.
The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) protested the decision in a statement posted on social media.
“The White House cannot decide how news organizations report news, and should not punish work journalists because they are unhappy with the editor’s decision,” said WHCA president Eugene. Daniels said. “The administration’s move to ban reporters from the Associated Press from official events open from today’s news reports is unacceptable.”
The order signing in the oval office ultimately became a question-and-answer session with the president and Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest man to be tasked with overhauling the US government by Trump. When asked about those who called Musk’s anti-government efforts a “hostile takeover” of the administrative sector, Musk said:
Shortly after the inauguration, Trump signed an executive order to rename both the Gulf of Mexico and Denali, the highest peaks in North America. Following his orders, the Gulf of Mexico is renamed the Gulf of America, and Denali returns to Mount McKinley. This is the name that was called in 2015 by Barack Obama before he changed it.
At the time, Mexican President Claudia Sinbaum jokingly suggested that North America, including the United States, should be renamed Mexican America, as in the 17th century.
A few days later, the AP rolled out style guidance on Trump’s orders, noting that the organization “will refer to it by its original name, while acknowledging the new name Trump has chosen.” The AP said the Gulf Coast has the name of the Gulf of Mexico “more than 400 years” and it doesn’t require other countries or international organizations to recognize the name change.
That’s not the case of Mount McCanley, where Trump’s name has changed from his previous Denali name. The AP said that since Alaska’s mountain regions are “only in the US,” Trump will use Mount McKinley because he has full authority to change names.
The AP style is used not only by agents but thousands of journalists and writers around the world.
Most news organizations, including Reuters, call it the Gulf of Mexico, but the relevant Reuters style is to include the context of Trump’s executive order.
The AP move was a tough starting point from other major organizations, including Google, and later confirmed and renamed the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America on the US Google Maps.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the statement by the WHCA and the Associated Press. Mexico’s Foreign Ministry also did not immediately respond to a request for comment Tuesday.
