Washington DC:
The US Secret Service shot a man near the White House in Washington, DC, shortly after midnight on Sunday (local time) after a “armed conflict” with law enforcement. President Donald Trump was in Florida at the time of the shooting.
The incident was located one block from the White House, on the west side of the Executive Office Building in Eisenhower. On Saturday, agents were warned by local police that they suspected of a man who “deathed suicide” travelling from Indiana to Washington.
Around midnight, Secret Service agents spotted a privately parked vehicle near 17th and F Streets in NW, and on foot who met the description nearby.
Secret Service uniformed department chief Michael Buck provided an on-scene media briefing. Our preliminary statement is below. @DCPolicEdept will lead the investigation as it is the primary agency responsible for property use cases within the District of Columbia. pic.twitter.com/aqv6djuzbv

“As the officers approached, individuals wielded firearms and an armed conflict continued, during which time they were fired by our staff,” the Secret Service said in a statement.
The Secret Service said the man was hospitalized and his condition was “unknown.”
In the incident, Secret Service personnel were not injured, the statement said.
The issue will be investigated by the Metropolitan Police Department as it is the main body of agricultural use cases within the District of Columbia, the statement added.
