An Arizona man was arrested Monday for allegedly threatening to kill President-elect Donald Trump in a series of Facebook videos, in which he appears to be holding an AR-15-style rifle, according to court documents. A video was also included.
Manuel Tamayo Torres faces a felony charge of threatening the president-elect after making several threats against Trump and his family, according to the documents.
Court documents do not directly identify Trump, referring only to “Individual 1.” Court documents identify “Person 1” as a public figure, a former president and the current president-elect.
Last Thursday, Tamayo-Torres posted a video on Facebook saying, “(Individual 1) You’re going to die. (Individual 1) Your son is going to die. Your whole family is going to die,” Tamayo-Torres said in a video posted to Facebook last Thursday, according to court documents. This is the reality for you now. This is the only reality for you in the future (Individual 1).
In another video posted earlier this month, Tamayo-Torres threatened to shoot President Trump and held up “what appears to be a white AR-15 style rifle with a 30-round magazine inserted,” according to court documents. .
Tamayo Torres posted a video on Aug. 23 from Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, where President Trump held an afternoon rally. During the rally, President Trump said he would establish an independent commission to investigate the assassination attempt, referring to an assassination attempt on himself at a July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Tamayo-Torres is also charged with multiple counts of making false statements on a federal application when trying to buy a gun in Phoenix, Arizona, last year, according to documents.
It is unclear from court records whether Tamayo-Torres has an attorney.
