AITKIN — Connor Coons scored 21 points as the Staples-Motley Cardinals defeated the Aitkin Gobblers 66-65 in a Section 7-2A matchup on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
For the Cardinals, Eli Rutten scored 18 points and Avandre Brandt scored 15 points, including the game-winning free throw.
Noah Moss led Aitken with 14 points. Isaac Ausmus added 13 points, Isiah Baker added 12 points and Cody Kostic added 11 points.

Harrison Kennen had 16 points and Brayden Dornsaif had 10 points for the Pequots.
