Christian Linke, creator of Netflix’s Arcane, admits he was inspired by America’s two-party system and inability to communicate with each other.
“Arcane” is set in a utopian city called Piltover, and a wasteland city below it called Zaun. Residents live on the remains of wealthy Piltover residents who are being suppressed by the police. We’ll find out in Season 2 whether all-out war breaks out in an attempt to close this gap or forge some kind of peace through a partnership between these two cities.
When asked at the second season premiere in Los Angeles whether the series drew inspiration from real life or specific historical events, Linke said: At some point we stopped even talking to each other, yes. ”
He explained that this fact was exacerbated by the election, saying, “The situation has become even worse.” “When we started this, we were like, ‘Well, we can’t coexist.’ But I mean, the election isn’t that far away, and things are only going to get worse. So, one day I think there’s definitely a mirror at the end.”
Author Amanda Overton also spoke about being inspired by contemporary issues: “We’ve always felt in our lifetimes that the gap between rich and poor on the left was widening, and we felt like we could do that in a really exciting, imaginative and fun way. is.”
The League of Legends-inspired animated narrative series premiered on Netflix in 2021 and became the number one show in 52 countries. The first of three parts of the second and final season will premiere on streaming on November 9th. The next act will premiere on November 16th and the last on November 23rd.
