Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris have made multiple campaign stops in the state this year. Most of Nevada’s counties are rural and voted heavily for President Trump in 2020. But that same year, Democrat Joe Biden won the two most populous counties, Washoe and Clark, the latter of which includes Las Vegas and three-quarters of the state’s residents.
Nevada Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen has won re-election to the Senate, fending off a fierce challenge from Republican Sam Brown.
Rosen, a first-term moderate in a presidential battleground state, was one of the Republicans’ top targets. She called for lowering costs for the middle class, defending abortion rights and tackling the climate crisis. Over the summer, she pointed to the heat waves that paralyzed Western countries and introduced legislation that would allow heat waves to be considered disasters under federal law.
The Associated Press announced Mr. Trump and Mr. Rosen as the winners at 12:15 a.m. ET.
