Simon Property Group has announced that it will launch a “million dollar, transformative multi-million dollar” redevelopment project at Smith Haven Mall.
The project will include the addition of new retailers, restaurants, new outdoor plazas and other amenities, according to the company’s statement.
The redevelopment, which begins this summer and is expected to be completed in 2026, will feature exterior and interior improvements for the property, including new seating areas and new landscaping.
“At Simon, we are committed to making significant investments throughout our portfolio and ensuring that the Center continues to provide an exceptional customer experience for today’s shoppers,” says Simon’s Development President. Mark Silvestri said in a statement.
The exterior of the mall has been repainted, with new signs and entrances being part of the project. The mall’s interior will offer new flooring, equipment and other enhancements, including a massive revitalization of the centre court and a change in the food court that features new seating.
“Whether you’re one of our longtime shoppers, or you’re stopping by on your way to the east, we’re welcoming you to discover what’s new at Smith Haven Mall. “We’ll do that,” the mall general manager said in a statement.
New tenants at the mall include fashion brand Zara, which is scheduled to open near the mall’s centre court next year. Golf Lounge18, a golf and sports bar, will open next month, with Surura Table, which offers cooking utensils, tableware, cutlery and other kitchen tools, set to open this fall.
Smith Haven is the latest Long Island Mall to be overhauled.
