“Safety and security are our number one priority and we appreciate the understanding of our customers,” the airline said in a statement.
An official who was briefed on the issue told ABC News that the bomb threat was received via email but was deemed unfounded.
Indian authorities claimed that the aircraft would be checked out before landing in New Delhi, officials said.
The plane had 199 passengers and 15 crew members, the airline said.
Passengers are busing at the terminal for screening and the aircraft will be checked.
