The new Blackman Township Technology Park has welcomed its first tenant and others are expected to follow.
A groundbreaking ceremony for Midbrook Manufacturing and Fabrication’s new facility was held Friday, Dec. 6, at the 145-acre Jackson Technology Park North on County Farm Road. Old AMC movie theater to be demolished after failed attempt to attract buyer
Jackson’s former theater is being reduced to rubble and cleared to attract future developers.
Jackson AMC Classic Plaza 8 (1700 N. Wisner St.) closed in July 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. The property has remained vacant ever since, and efforts to find a potential buyer have been unsuccessful, said Bill McLeod, senior associate broker with Gardam Realty & Investments.

Fill your tummy with hearty sandwiches and breakfasts at Usher Creek Creamery & Deli
Asher Creek Creamery & Deli’s original favorites were coffee and ice cream, but sandwiches, soups and breakfasts are also appealing to customers’ stomachs.
Heather and Michael Riccardi opened Usher Creek Creamery & Deli in downtown Grass Lake in July, and Heather said sandwiches have become a staple on the menu. Michael created the recipes at home and nine children’s favorites were chosen for customers to enjoy.

Jackson’s first cannabis microbusiness opens, offering ‘seed-to-shelf’ products
Joe Cranmore said he strives to improve the lives of others, which led him to open his own micro-marijuana business in Jackson.
Five Point Farms, 744 E. South St., opened on Friday, Dec. 13. Cranmore said the facility is the first of its kind in Jackson County because, unlike a dispensary, it grows and processes products on-site.

‘It’s an eyesore’ City plans to demolish former Keeder’s Show Bar in Jackson
Neighbor Melissa Burks is excited to hear about the City of Jackson’s plans to demolish the former Keeder’s Show Bar.
Burks, 49, has lived on S. Elm Avenue near an adult entertainment center for about three years. When the property went up for sale, she wanted the city to buy it, believing it to be a business unsuited for a family-oriented neighborhood.
