STEM majors network with local employers at employability forums
Selected STEM majors at Amarillo College will have the opportunity to network with many local employers at AC’s STEM Employability Forum and increase their chances of summer internships and future employment. STEM majors who applied to participate in the forum will interact with representatives from several local employers in a conference-style information session, according to an AC news release. Students have the opportunity to participate in mock job interviews and participate in networking sessions to help prepare for future summer internship interviews, while making valuable connections for future career possibilities. “One of the goals of the HSI STEM Grant is to expand access to and success in STEM fields for all students,” Holly Hofmann, director of HSI STEM Grants at AC, said in the release. “This event allows STEM students to network with local employers who work with us on eight-week paid summer internship programs in a variety of STEM fields. WT Criminal Justice Career Fair to be held on October 29th
CANYON — Students and community members seeking employment in a variety of criminal justice fields, including law enforcement, may attend West Texas A&M University’s Jack B. Criminal justice lecturer Janet Bissoni said the career expo, sponsored by the Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice in WT’s Terry B. Rogers College of Education and Social Sciences, appeals not only to WT students but also to the broader public. He said it was intended to.
“These agencies often require non-executive support staff,” Bissoni said in a news release. “They need communication specialists, nurses, social workers, etc., so there are plenty of opportunities for a variety of students and community members.”
