ALPENA – On Thursday night, the Alpena High School girls’ basketball team faced the Cadillac in a fierce game, causing the Wildcats’ loss.
The final score was 56-38, with Cadillac’s lead starting from the start.
From the jump balls that Kiera Prue made, Alpena started by owning it. It is quickly taken away from Cadillac, where they are sent to the line for a free throw and scored two points.
Alpena scored his first point with two minutes remaining in the first quarter from two pointers. Natalie Maichen secured the quarter with a two-pointer rebounded from her.
The score since the first quarter was 7-4, with Cadillac leading.

From the second quarter, Prue won two pointers, followed by another pointer. However, Cadillac continued to get caught up in the point.
Prue was sent to the line for a free throw and scored points for the team. Maychen continued with a three-pointer, with Cadillac scoring more points in the final second.
The halftime score was 21-12 Caddilac.
Prue scored two pointers early in the third quarter, and Maychen followed two more suits.
Madalynn Wiedbrauk won three pointers while she was in court. Reaghan Fitzpatrick also won a 3-pointer.

A foul called by Cadillac, Prue scored two points from a free throw.
Despite getting all the points from Alpena, Cadillac scored even more, scoring a 37-24 score at the end of the third quarter.
Weidbrauk scored a 3-pointer at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
Prue scored two points and was sent to the line to get another free throw.
Shortly after this, Proulu was fouled out for the game.
Fitzpatrick scored another three for the team, but then Maychen was fouled out for the game. Faith Drug Witch was also fouled out.
Weidbrauk scored the final three pointer of the game with 40 seconds remaining.
Cadillac continued to collect points at the end as the fouls were called for Alpena, resulting in their lead following in favor of the Wildcats.
The Alpena Girls’ next home game will be at Alpena High School on Mondays at 7pm.
