Alzheimer’s Foundation of America receives $49,000 grant
As the Long Island region faces an Alzheimer’s disease epidemic, construction of a new Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) education and training center in Amityville is underway with a $49,000 grant to help families and those affected by the disease. Safe Center LI recognizes H2M employees at annual gala
The Safe Center LI honors H2M Architects and Engineers Vice President and Deputy Director of Insurance Markets Debbie Mattina and Senior Project Scientist Ashley Little as Partner of the Year at the nonprofit’s 10th annual gala Awarded. This event honors our staff, volunteers, leaders, and community champions for their dedication to fostering safer communities for everyone.
As leaders of H2M’s Women’s Leadership Employee Resource Group (ERG), Little and Mattina have supported The Safe Center LI and its mission for several years. In 2024, two industrial hygiene experts organized an event to create Mother’s Day baskets, laundry kits, and back-to-school toiletry kits. They also played an active role in other events hosted by the nonprofit, including networking events promoting women’s safety and situational awareness.
VNSHS celebrates 20th anniversary of Hospice House facility opening
Suffolk Visiting Nursing Service and Hospice (VNSHS) marks a significant milestone in its history as it celebrates 20 years of Hospice House. The commemorative event, held in Huntington’s Paramount Founders Room, honored 20 years of compassionate end-of-life care and emphasized the continued importance of hospice services in the community.
Established in 2004, Hospice House is a testament to VNSHS’s commitment to providing care with compassion and dignity.
The celebration, which drew more than 150 guests, featured the sounds of Grammy Award-winning Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks. The event successfully raised over $45,000, funds that directly support the organization’s critical health services.
St. Francis Hospital Recognized for 75 Years of AHA Membership
The American Hospital Association (AHA) recognized Catholic Health’s St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center in Roslyn in recognition of its 75 years of participation and leadership in the organization. Michael Drain, the association’s regional executive, presented the award to the hospital’s leadership team.
With 364 licensed beds, St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center is the only professionally designed heart center in New York State. In 2023 and 2024, the center earned the nationally recognized HeartCare Center designation from the American College of Cardiology (ACC). This is the only ACC HeartCare Center designation in the region, which includes New York City, Long Island, and the five boroughs of Westchester.
