David Muir will have a new top producer behind the scenes at ABC News’ “World News Tonight.”
Chris Dinan, who has served as the evening news program’s senior broadcast producer, has been named executive producer of the series. He will succeed Armin Karamedovic, who was appointed president of ABC News in August. Dinan will report directly to coach Karamedovic.
“Chris is an accomplished producer and gifted storyteller who has been part of the DNA of World News Tonight for more than 13 years, helping to shape the news program and delivering the best news that serves our viewers. We have provided coverage,” Karamemedovic said in a statement. “His strong leadership and deep collaboration with David and the entire ABC News team will take our broadcasts to new heights.”
Mr. Dinan joined ABC News in 2011 and assumed his most recent role in 2014. “World News Tonight” is the most-watched evening news program on the three broadcast networks, and in some cases is one of the most-watched programs. -I watched a program on linear television. The show competes in ratings with “NBC Nightly News,” anchored by Lester Holt, and “CBS Evening News,” anchored by Norah O’Donnell. CBS plans to overhaul its programming after the 2024 presidential election and install an anchor team that includes John Dickerson and Maurice Dubois.
Dinan began her career at CBS News, working as a senior and field producer for anchors Dan Rather and Katie Couric. He eventually rose to the position of senior broadcast producer at “CBS Evening News.”
Senior producers Anjoli Francis, Jennifer Metz and Brian Reiferson will take on additional live production duties in the World News Tonight control room.
