A 46-year-old Minnesota man killed his wife, ex-partner and two sons, then shot himself, authorities said. “My mental health and the world can no longer coexist peacefully. Much of the reason is religion,” he wrote in a July post.
He also wrote that he was “afraid of religious zealots imposing false beliefs” on him and his family. “There’s an intrusive thought that you’re going to be burned at the stake or crucified on a burning cross as a witch,” he added.
In another post, the nephew even accused Republicans of making abusive relationships “harder for women to get out of.”
“Gilead has arrived,” he said of the dystopian novel “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
Another post by his nephew features images of Trump with former President Barack Obama, President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
The word “hate” was written under President Trump’s face, while the words “hope,” “healing” and “growth” were written under the faces of Democratic politicians.
“Nobody cares, but as an independent voter I want both political parties in our country to choose better candidates,” he wrote in a July post.
Duluth police have not yet determined a motive behind the murder, saying there was no ongoing threat to the community.
