Jessica Abber, a former U.S. lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA), was found dead at her home Saturday, officials said.
The body of the 43-year-old lawyer who resigned after President Donald Trump took office in January was found at his home in Alexandria, Virginia.
An investigation into the circumstances of her death is ongoing, police said in a statement.
“This morning, around 9:18am, Alexandria police responded to the 900 block of Beverly Drive to report a woman who was not responding. The officer found the deceased woman,” the statement said.
The Virginia Chief Medical Inspector’s office will determine the cause and method of death.
Eric S. Siebert, an incumbent US lawyer for the Eastern District of Virginia, said he was “more than words” to learn about Ms. Aber’s death.
“She is unparalleled as a leader, leader, and prosecutor, and she is simply irreplaceable as a human being. We are in awe of how much she achieved in this world in such a short time.
“We are ravaged by this loss, but each of us in the Eastern Virginia region strives and strives to meet that standard. Jess was a Virginian whom she was proud of, from high school to college and throughout her career.
