A Dutch court on Thursday declared four men in 25 for an “honor killing” of a woman stabbed in the daytime in front of her three-year-old daughter.
Rossin, 28, was stabbed 28 times in September 2023 by his brother, walking with his daughter in the eastern city of Apeldoorn, the eastern Netherlands.
“It’s hard to imagine the more horrifying end of human life. Her daughter saw her mother killed in a very violent way,” according to the court ruling.
In addition to the 25-year sentence for his brother, identified as 36-year-old Peshan A, the court sentenced another brother and two cousins in part of the murder.
“The audio and chat messages the men sent to each other indicate that together they decided that the victim would die because she violated the honor of their family,” the court said.
After the victim divorced, the family wanted her to move with her parents in The Hague, but she chose to stay in Apeldoorn with her daughter and began a new relationship.
“The four men then prepare together to carry out the plan and willfully exclude the rest of their family from the execution plan,” the verdict said.
Peshan A. reportedly tried to flee the court after the verdict but was taken into custody by police.
The court also ordered the four men to pay their daughter $73,000.
