Ferrell aces the 12th hole at the Meadows
Vernon Paul Ferrell recently got a hole-in-one at The Meadows in White Sulphur Springs. He used a 7-iron from 135 yards on the 12th hole.
The hole-in-one was witnessed by Ray Fanta, Frank Northrup and Bernie Garrett.

Williamstown High School Tag Day
The Williamstown Junior and Senior High School Athletic Supporters Association will be holding its annual Tag Day, where student athletes will travel around the town and surrounding Williamstown to collect donations.
All participants will wear Williamstown team apparel and have an identification lanyard.

Marietta High School Sports Hall of Fame
The Marietta High School Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Lafayette Hotel.
This year’s class includes Tom Baker (1960), Jerry Bullock (coach), Shauna Dougherty (1995), Scott Strahler (1998), Bill Ross Jr. (1979) and the late William Wetsell (1963). Inductees will also be honored at the home college football game on Friday, Sept. 27.

Tickets for the event, which includes a buffet dinner, are $40 each, and table sponsorships of up to eight tickets are also available for $300 each.

Warren honors historic football team
Players, cheerleaders, managers and coaches from Warren High School’s Pioneer Valley League football championship teams from the 1963-64, 1964-65 and 1965-66 years will be honored prior to the football game against Paintsville, Ky., on Sept. 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Also invited are members of Warren’s first football team (1961-62) under Coach Vince Scragg and the 1962-63 team under Coach Ron Rice.
The gate entry will take place at the stadium’s main gate at 5:30 pm and the ceremony will take place on the stadium’s field at 6:15 pm.
