JMU men’s basketball head coach Preston Spradlin has been aggressive in recruiting, including adding a key high school verbal commit to the Dukes’ freshman recruiting class of 2025. Spradlin, who comes to JMU after a successful stint at Morehead State, is likely one of the best mid-major college recruiters in the country.
Here’s a closer look at Spradlin’s 2025 class, which includes some of the highest verbal commitments in program history.
JMU Men’s Basketball 2025 Freshman Recruiting Class
Preston Fowler, San Francisco – A four-star prospect, Fowler has an overall rating of .9516 from 24/7 Sports. If Fowler signs his letter of intent to attend JMU (currently a verbal commitment), he will become the highest-rated prospect ever to commit to the JMU men’s basketball team, according to 24/7 Sports.
Fowler also received offers from Oklahoma State and Wake Forest. At 6-foot-8, Fowler has the build of an ideal small forward. He is one of the top high school players in the 2025 class, and the fact that Duke was in the running to acquire Fowler speaks to the growth of the JMU men’s basketball program.
Christian Brown, San Francisco – A three-star recruit by 24/7 Sports, Brown chose JMU over Appalachian State and Murray State. PrepHoops ranks Brown as the top high school player in the state of Tennessee (Class of 2025). He was a solid addition and spoke to us after his visit to Harrisonburg before deciding to enroll at JMU.
