SCHOFIELD, Wis. — (WAOW) With many people off work on this day, some businesses stayed open to bring those customers in. Dan Horn, owner of Horn’s Huddle, said Labor Day brings in more customers than usual, but serving those customers is a team effort.
“We’re happy with the fact that a lot of places are closing and we’ll have more sales, and our employees are happy that they’ll get more tips. We have a great management team that’s increasing the cooking hours and everyone is really on board,” Hoen said.
He said most people go to the lake or travel out of state over Labor Day, but he wants to give them a chance to visit when they return and recover from their travels.
“Most people go north and leave town, but at the end of the day, there are still a few people here and very few stores open. We have a lot of people who bump into our store on their way back into town,” Hoen said.
He added that attendance has been strong since college football’s opening weekend and the Packers want to keep that momentum going as they start the season.
