BETHLEHEM, Pa. – A local small business owner is relocating his luxury consignment boutique, featuring fashions from top designers including Dior, Gucci and Louis Vuitton, to a new location in downtown Bethlehem.
Alexandra Frye, owner of Designer Consigner at 77 W. Broad St., recently purchased a three-story Victorian home at 146 W. Broad St. and plans to move her business to the first floor once renovations are complete in early fall, according to a news release.
The West Broad Street building will give Frye’s space to expand its operations and allow it to offer antiques and furniture in addition to clothing, luxury handbags and other items.
Jeff Barber of Lehigh Financial Group LLC in Allentown helped arrange financing so Frye could purchase the building and make the needed renovations.
The transaction closed on Aug. 27. The purchase price was not disclosed.
Frye had been looking for a new retail space for a while and was attracted to the West Broad Street property because it has nine parking spaces for customers and is off Main Street, “allowing us to stay in the downtown area,” she said.
The Victorian building also houses Fry’s Consignment Shop, providing more than double the retail space of the current store.
Frye plans to rent the second and third floors of the building, which she describes as “solid.”
There aren’t many plans to renovate the store.
“We’re going to put in new floors and paint them,” Frye said.
Designer Consignor, which stocks fashion and accessories from top designers such as Burberry, Chanel, Fendi, Hermes and Prada, was founded in 2011 by Fly.
This will be the company’s third relocation.
Designer Consigner originally operated at 453 Main St. in downtown Bethlehem, but in 2018 moved to 521 Main St.
In January 2022, Fly moved its business to 77 W. Broad St. Unit 19 (between The Joint Coffee Co. and Steel District Barbershop) near the Sun Inn Courtyard.
