Women’s Volleyball
Battle of the Valley
HARRISON TOWNSHIP – Fox Valley Lutheran College won the Battle of the Valley, 4-0, at The Barn at Lake Park.
Xavier and Oconto Falls finished second and third, respectively.
In pool play, the Foxes defeated New Holstein 25-7, 25-7 and Howards Grove 25-21, 25-23. In the gold bracket, FVL defeated Xavier 25-18, 25-22 and Oconto Falls 31-29, 17-25, 15-10.
For Fox Valley Lutheran, Riley Schmitz led the team with 48 digs and 12 assists. Hannah Uhlenbrack had 16 kills, Amara Yahner had 18 digs and Brianna Stewart had 12 kills and 10 blocks. Alaina Patchett had a team-high 22 kills, and Molly Bixby and Ava Patchett had 39 and 33 assists, respectively.
Stevens Point Invitational Tournament
STEVENS POINT – New Lutheran University finished in fifth place at the invitational with a 2-2 record.
The Blazers lost to Newman Catholic 25-21, 23-25, 12-15, beat Northland Pines 25-18, 25-11, lost to Whittenburg-Birnamwood 25-18, 22-25, 13-15 and beat Rhinelander 25-17, 25-8.
Emma Larch had 39 kills, 44 digs and seven aces for NEW Lutheran. Abby Kirchner had 83 assists and 15 aces. Kylie Dayne had 37 digs and 19 kills and Lexi Meerstein had 18 kills and six aces.
Crivitz Invitational Tournament
Crivitz-Wabeno took first place, Florence took second and Crivitz took third.
Crivitz beat Goodman 25-11, 25-18 and then defeated Marinette 25-16, 25-22. Wabeno beat Crivitz 25-17, 25-18 and Florence beat Crivitz 25-15, 25-19.
Addie Rehberg had four aces and 13 assists for Crivitz. Hattie Freewald had eight aces, nine digs and 33 assists. Marlee Myers had five aces and 14 kills. Payton Rehberg had five kills, Kristen Pusick had six kills and Megan Pusick had 11 kills. Kiya Brand had 10 kills and 11 digs, Lucy Grusinski had 15 digs and Taryn Tracy had three aces, 12 kills and 12 digs.
Men’s Soccer
Kimberly 2, Green Bay Preble 0
GREEN BAY — The Papermakers shut out the Hornets to win their season opener.
Joel Colvin put Kimberley up 1-0 from a corner kick in the fifth minute and Liam Paradiso scored in the 68th minute, running down the end line and firing a shot into the near post.
Noah Sommer made six saves in goal for Kimberly.
Green Bay Preble took nine shots and Kimberly made eight.
Pulaski 7, Shawano 0
SHAWANO — The Red Raiders got two goals from Maddox McKeeffrey and Tate Garth in their win over the Hawks.
Pulaski, which led 4-0 at halftime, also got goals from Hudson Schultz, Nolan Pratt and Josh Aranda.
Deegan Lambert and Henry Kanzenbach both recorded assists for Pulaski, which had 24 shots on goal to Shawano’s zero.
Jonah Drewes and Josh Ross split time in goal for Pulaski.
Ryan Berman made 17 saves for Shawano.
Hortonville 3, Marshfield 1
HORTONVILLE — Noah Lint scored two goals and Jacob Platz added another as the Polar Bears beat the Tigers in a non-conference game.
Dylan Grad added two assists for Hortonville.
Polar Bears goaltender Grant Decker made two saves.
All the goals came in the second half.
