A new dual-concept store featuring a high-end barbershop and a “secret” bar has opened in Missouri City.
Founded by area residents and longtime friends Paco Redmond, Corey Williams and Jason Thomas, The Sloane Barber Parlour & Speakeasy Lounge offers “a premium grooming experience by day and a vibrant bar scene by night,” Redmond, 47, said in a phone interview.
“Customers can come in to get their hair cut and then have a drink,” Redmond said. “We’re a cafe first. Customers can come into the speakeasy lounge any time without needing to make an appointment or for a haircut.”
Currently in its soft opening phase, The Throne features gold barber chairs and dark panelled décor, and in the evenings, the bar in the back transforms into a full-on party space.
Redmond said the establishment operates with a staff of about 10 people, including eight bartenders and two barbers.
“Being from Missouri City, I felt like I knew what was missing in our community,” he said.
The Throne has a full-service bar serving craft beers and cocktails, as well as upscale bar food like burgers and nachos.
Redmond said an official grand opening will take place within the next few weeks once the kitchen is fully operational and the patio is completed.
The word “throne” evokes a sense of luxury and grandeur, he said.
“It alludes to the fact that you’ll be treated like royalty when you get your hair cut, dine, smoke a cigar or enjoy a drink,” he says. “The black and gold barber chair and gold restrooms also fit the name of the shop.”
Haircut prices start at $45, Redmond said.
Throne Barber Parlor and Speakeasy Lounge is located at 8027 Hwy 6, Suite 800 in Missouri City.
