As fall approaches, I’m feeling more and more motivated to refresh my wardrobe with some thoughtful additions. Rather than buying into fleeting trends that disappear as quickly as they appeared (something we never recommend at Who What Wear), I’m taking a strategic approach this season and purchasing some pieces in key colors I spotted on the Fall/Winter 2024 runways.
I wanted to refresh my fall capsule collection while making sure my purchases wouldn’t be “outdated” by this time next year, and I didn’t want to go bankrupt in the process, so for reasons that will become clear in a moment, I searched H&M.

What can I say? H&M knows how to use color. The brand always has. And now, the affordable favorite is channeling its energy into four pricey-looking colors that will make you look rich (yes, there’s such a thing) just by wearing them.
From elegant trench coats to chic shoulder bags, discover H&M’s fall-perfect colour trends in handpicked autumn hues.
The 4 Fall 2024 Color Trends H&M Has Mastered
1. Burgundy
Style Notes: As a grown-up alternative to the vibrant red hues of summer, style makers are settling on the burgundy trend this fall. Seen all over the fall/winter runways in the form of chic leather goods and comfortable clothing, burgundy is poised to establish itself as the season’s most important color.
It can be worn layered over a white T-shirt or buttoned up on its own for a stylish look.
This cute shoulder bag looks more expensive than it actually is.
It looks lovely when paired with a powder pink knit.

Textured jersey strap dress
This one also comes in black, but the burgundy color is especially special.
It is also available in black and grey.
2. Khaki
Style Notes: Khaki is coming back in a big way for Fall 2024, and we’re so happy about that. We’ve already seen khaki trench coats in London, and we’re hoping to see this trend spread to many other garments. There’s something classy about the muted shade, which indirectly makes it look more expensive.
Khaki trend coats will be a big trend this fall.

Ribbed knit button front dress
Wear it with knee-high boots or Mary Jane shoes.
3. Brown
Style Notes: Everywhere you look, fashionistas are swapping out black basics for this more sophisticated hue. A little lighter and much more wearable, the brown trend is one of the season’s chicest colors. Wear it head-to-toe for maximum impact or use it to add a touch of shine and sophistication to other colors in your wardrobe.
White shoes aren’t the first combination you would think of with a brown dress, but wow, they work so well together.
These look much more expensive than they actually are.

4. Baby Blue
Style Notes: Not a typical fall hue, the pale blue color trend has been gaining popularity for the past few seasons. Pairing well with black, brown, and navy, this fresh hue is an easy and elegant way to brighten up your fall wardrobe.
It’s very elegant, especially when paired with the burgundy bag above.
Knit skirt sets will be a key trend this fall.
